Digital Dental X-Rays

Like old-fashioned dental X-rays, digital dental X-rays are used by your dentist to take images of your mouth, including tooth structure and your jaw bones, by placing a small, carefully positioned sensor in your mouth that is connected to a computer. The dentist will reposition the sensor and take additional digital X-rays until all of your teeth have been X-rayed, providing your dentist with the ability to view color contrast in HD and check for bone density, among other benefits.

With digital dental X-rays, your dentist is able to immediately see your teeth and jaw bones, making the assessment and diagnosis virtually instantaneous.

Laser Dentistry

Laser dentistry is one of the least invasive tools your dentist can use to provide quality dental care. Boston Dental is proud to offer laser dentistry, using cutting-edge technology to provide more comfortable, precise, and efficient dental care.

The Waterlase® is used for a variety of procedures, including cavity detection, fillings, crown lengthening, gingival (gum) resculpting, and root canals.

Laser dentistry has become the ideal choice for patients with 97% of people who have had Waterlase® treatment recommending it to their friends and family. Some of its benefits include overall patient comfort, zero anesthesia needed (no shots or numb lips), minimal damage to surrounding tissue, less bleeding and post-operative swelling, reduction in overall healing time and need for pain medication, reduction in periodontal pockets without the use of stitches or sutures and it can be used in multiple soft tissue procedures including fillings, sterilization and gum sculpting.

DIAGNOdent

The detection of cavities is paramount to maintaining clean and healthy teeth. To eliminate the discomfort associated with this process, Boston Dental is pleased to offer the DIAGNOdent Laser by KaVo, the latest technology in cavity detection.

The DIAGNOdent Laser is an advanced technology that provides many benefits to the patient inclyding cavity identification on the fissure lines or occlusal surfaces of teeth and other areas of decay, full scanning of teeth to identify healthy and unhealthy enamel using laser and fluorescent light technology, and identification of “trouble areas” of teeth with precision that surpasses that of X-rays.

Boston Dental also offers patients the DIAGNOdent Perio Probe, which examines gum tissue for signs of periodontal disease.

Cone Beam X-Rays

Boston Dental uses dental Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to generate 3D images of our patients’ dental structures, soft tissue, nerve paths and bone – all in a single scan. The CBCT moves a cone-shaped X-ray beam around the patient to produce hundreds of high-quality images. These images enable our dentists to execute more precise treatment planning than a traditional X-ray machine.

The CBCT makes the X-ray process easy for our patients. People simply sit down in an exam chair and remain still for 10 - 30 seconds, depending upon how much of the mouth and dental structures are imaged. In a single rotation, the detector can generate anywhere between 150 to 200 high resolution two-dimensional (2-D) images, which are then digitally combined to form a 3-D image that provides our dentists with valuable information about patients’ oral and craniofacial health.

Digital Impressions

Boston Dental uses modern, highly accurate digital impression technology – a welcomed departure from the traditional dental practice of forcing patients to use uncomfortable trays full of impression materials that taste bad.

As part of the Boston Dental luxury experience, our dentists use an intraoral dental scanner to digitally capture every nook and cranny of our patients’ teeth to ensure accurate impressions and make creating high-quality restorations much quicker.
